Championship Shows

We hold a bi-anual Breed Championship Show in November at the Elsecar Heritage Centre near Barnsley.

We share Kennel Club Challenge Certificates with Yorkshire Cocker Spaniel Club therefore they hold a Championship Show one year and we hold one the next.

My husband Geoff and I bought our first blue roan Cocker Spaniel in 1973 from Mrs Whiteley (Snowgate). We only bought our first Cocker Spaniel as a pet but following encouragement from Mrs Whiteley we visited our local match night and from there our love of showing Cocker Spaniels snowballed.

We then decided to breed blue roan Cocker Spaniels and this resulted in us breeding numerous Show Champions.
Cocker of the Year, Pup of the Year and Sire of Year awards gained too.

I was the Treasurer of Rotherham & District Cocker Spaniel Club for numerous years and I have enjoyed judging both here in the UK and abroad.

Bitches Judge -

Referee - Mr Alan Curry - Lodore

We bought our first cocker in 1976 with no intention to show but attended the local training class and is often the case were persuaded to show him. We quickly realised that he was not good enough and after attending a Rotherham Cocker Championship show met Jackie Marris Bray and bought a blue roan dog which had a successful show career and we hooked,

We moved to Selby in 1978 and I joined Rotherham Cocker committee and over the years I served as Chairman and for 25 years as Secretary and latterly as a committee member once more. I first awarded CC's in the breed in 1991 and have regularly done so over the ensuing years including Crufts in 2012.During this time I was also a member of Yorkshire Cocker committee and was treasurer for 25 years and as Rotherhams representative for the breed council attended meetings for 30 Years and was chair or vice chair over a 10 year period so my life has been intertwined with cocker spaniels for the last 4 decades.

As well as cocker spaniels I have shown Dandie Dinmonts, PBGV, and Golden Retrievers and award CC's in a total of six breeds .
